Description
A flock of Grey Partridge in a snowy stubble field. This is a well marked Gamebird. It is a very wary bird due to being heavily persecuted. They are often seen in small family flocks feeding in stubble fields looking for seedlings and discarded grain. The flock would prefer to run from danger as opposed to flying to reduce the chance of being shot at.Its latin name is Perdix perdix.
I manged to capture this flock after a heavy snow shower as it moved back and forth in the field. This as been one of my target species at this time of year as they always stand out well .The colours on their flanks are so distinctive. With a chestnut face and flecking on their wings. You can see more of my wildlife images in my online gallery.
