Description
A male Kingfisher showing the true beauty of the jewel on a riverbank.Kingfishers are protected in the UK and a special license is required to photograph them near the nest site .This is from 1st February to 31st October. This protects the species to successfully breed along our forever clean waterways.
I set up my hide with a view along the riverbank out of the birds sight as it enters and leaves the nest cavity. This particular pair reared seven young last year before the heavy downpours forced them to disperse away from the nest cavity. So glad they have returned this year and hope they are as suceessful this year.
